Fabric Bowls

This past weekend was project weekend in our house. I found a fabulous paper mache project online from Bread & Buttons (UPDATE-SORRY THIS LINK NO LONGER WORKS! I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM) that both my 8 year old and I just had to try. We love how they came out! Nate’s bowl is the blue and yellow bowl and mine is the orange and red. We both worked on them together but we each made independent design choices.  Nate chose yellows (his favorite) and blues- the colors of Cub Scouts and the Madeira flag. I chose oranges (my favorite) and the fabric that has the fabulous little drawings of young boys on them. The boy at the bottom of the bowl completely reminds me of Nate when he was young. The boy on the side is Nick pulling out his tooth 2 weeks ago.  Who said bowls should have to hold water anyways?  We voted process on Bread & Buttons and we had so much fun!

PLAY~TIME~WISHES~ME

I haven't had much time for solo creating over the summer. I've been playing with my boys and enjoying the awesome adventures of mothering 8 and 6 year old boys. When I have snuck away to the studio for a few minutes of solo playing, I've been too tired for large paintings... and in a different frame of mind. So I've been playing with my journals; decorating, writing, collaging. School starts on Monday here. I am ready.

A little fun with Nick Bantock postcards. I just love his work!

Tip of the Day

Tip of the Day:

I wanted to share a fun site where you can buy washi tapes for collages.  Cute Tape has all kinds of treasures and way better prices than I have found elsewhere. I included a painting where I used them. Happy shopping and creating!!

Demo in Leesburg, FL

My artist's talk and demonstration of my painting style and technique at the Leesburg Center for the Arts for the Leesburg Art Association went really well. Thank you to Sharon and all the ladies. You have great questions and I look forward to teaching a workshop there next year!
