Both paintings by Heather and I took more than one day, but they were finished today! I love Heather's Schwinn painting. Beautiful!

Love painting our dogs!
So far, painting everyday has been easier than blogging about it! I'm behind! Here's yesterday's creations....
I was feeling like yuck today. Heather did a gorgeous painting of orchids and I didn't feel like doing squat. She talked me into it and now I'm grateful. Which made me think of Elizabeth Gilbert's fabulous quote from her book Big Magic, “You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures.”
More friends have joined the challenge! Welcome Pat Weaver! And Lynn Ashford and Nancy Johnson!
Day 4 for me consisted of studio building shopping, Nate's homework, and Mexican food with Heather's parents, so my watercolor of the day happened post cocktails. Heather was more disciplined and got hers finished pre-margaritas. Lynn Ashford and Nancy Johnson have joined us in the fun. Welcome ladies---I love it!! Paint with us and send me your daily painting!
Here they are!
Check your ego at the door and expand your horizons! Heather and I are inspired!! We're using Daily Painting by Carol Marine to jump start ourselves out of old habits and into new ones. We are going to do a painting a day and we are challenging ourselves to use mediums that we haven't used in a while. Join us!
Yesterday, Day 1, I ridiculously jumped in with oil paints and a still life with pineapple.....what was I thinking! I could've started with an apple, but NO. And I haven't done oils since college! Heather's blender in oils is just adorable. I'm going to revisit this pineapple when it dries a bit. To be continued....
Today, Day 2, we did pastels and I am reminded why I love to draw above all else. I did avocados in my favorite bowl and Heather did the cutest cow on the planet.
Tomorrow, Day 3, she is talking about watercolors...again. Haha. The push I need to broaden my artistic routine. Stay tuned. "Paint" with us!
I think a lot. We all do. Our brains, like our hearts, never take a break. My teachers like Tolle and Byron Katie remind me that we are not these thoughts that spiral around at 3am, but the peace and awareness that underlies them. That got me thinking (of course) about the difference between intuition and ego. So my questions are, when you sense something, can you trust and know what is your intuition and what is your ego? Can you sense your own awareness? Are you aware that you are aware? Namaste
